Who Will You Choose?

I believe God discovered that people’s hearts were so stuck that they were going to make the wrong choice.  And, God being God, God figured out a way to work with THAT. God figured out a way to work with the most horrible, awful choice people could make.  God figured out a way to work with Jesus’ crucifixion. God figured out a way to turn worldly sin into Godly victory. That’s what I believe. And…God can STILL do that….regardless of what we choose.

But to Serve

Maybe I’m thinking too big. Maybe what Jesus wants is for us to stay in our houses of worship, talking to each other, and leaving everybody out there to fend for themselves. Maybe, but I don’t think so. Actually, I’m pretty sure those big dreams and visions I have about the way it could be – even just here, in Grand Junction – are more in line with what Jesus meant when he said:

What Went Wrong

So, please, don’t follow the example of Rehoboam and Jeroboam, don’t follow the example of what went wrong. Don’t metaphorically continue to make scrambled eggs with corn syrup instead of oil once you know that it’s a bad idea. Instead, follow the example of what God tells us time and again will go right – focusing on God and God’s desires over everything else.

“A Different Type of Laughter”

My friends God IS calling you to live differently so that, in the end, you will laugh a different type of laughter, the type of laughter you so long to laugh. God IS calling you to live differently so that everyone who hears – everyone who pays attention to how God is working through you – will laugh WITH you, will laugh with you a laughter of joy and goodness. All you have to do is choose to go along with God’s plan.

The Psalms: A Choice

The psalms, they provide great clues, great advice, for how to live a life of blessing. That kind of life, it’s a choice. It’s there for the taking. All you have to do is follow the way of God. Follow the way of God, and God will watch over you, and prosperity – however God defines it – will be yours. Follow any OTHER way and, well, watch out.
