My friends, WE live in the midst of a post-resurrection world. This world, this kingdom of God, it’s all around us. But we have to respond to resurrection with a willingness to change in order to live into it.
But on this day, as I think back to a few moments ago and looking out on all the people who have served God as leaders in this congregation in the past year and who are committed now to serving God as leaders of this congregation in the coming year, I am reminded and inspired that God is very much alive and active, that God’s Spirit STILL calls and offers me new life in Christ, still offers me the chance to be born of the Spirit in the week to come and forever.
Y’all, the risen Christ stands before you this Easter season offering grace and power, wonders and signs. These things may come with a cost because what it takes to achieve them is NOT what those who live in the kingdom of this world want, but the risen Christ stands before you, offering them. It’s up to YOU, it’s up to US, whether we’ll take what Christ offers or what someone else offers.
