Journey to the Cross: Two Kingdoms

While it’s true that Jesus’ righteousness makes us righteous, so that we don’t need to rely on our own righteousness when The Judgment comes, and while it’s true faith is what saves, not works, it is ALSO true that the way to live best while on this earth, the way to live INTO the Kingdom of Heaven right here and right now, is by DOING acts of love for others, by taking care of the needs of others that you can do something about.

A Kingdom of Radical Change

Because it’s very likely we’ve become accustomed to the ways of the world’s kingdom, so accustomed to the ways of the world’s kingdom that we’re going to have to be open to some RADICAL CHANGE if we want continue Jesus’ ministry of ushering in a different kingdom, God’s kingdom, a kingdom devoted 100% to God’s desires with NO DISTRACTIONS, here on earth.

Christ The King

Y’all, today is Christ the King Sunday. Today is the day when we proclaim with hope and with confidence that the whole earth will someday be Christ’s kingdom, that someday everything that divides people from people and even people from God will fall away. Today is the day when we celebrate the coming fulfillment of all that we hope for, all that we dream for, all that we trust in, through Christ Jesus! Amen.

Ephesians: What’s the Point

What’s the point? Thanks to Jesus, whatever it is that you are lacking in your life, and particularly the stuff that we seem to be MORE lacking today than 2,000 years ago – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, THESE kinds of things – whatever it is that you’re lacking in THIS kingdom, it IS available in that other kingdom, the Kingdom of God. And thanks to Jesus, you can access that other kingdom and all the wonders it offers while you still live here on this planet, in THIS life. But, of course, there IS a catch. You’ve got to wholly commit to living in that other kingdom to access its wonders. Which kingdom will you choose?

The Minor Prophets: God’s Kingdom on Earth

The secret to our future success as CHURCH: it’s not about the music; it’s not about the color of the carpet; it’s not about the roof or the parking lot; it’s not about how well the lawn is maintained; it’s not about how good our fellowship coffee tastes or smells; it’s not about how well stocked our library is. NO. Our future success depends ENTIRELY on whether or not First Christian Church, Grand Junction becomes God’s kingdom here on earth.
